Microsphere Self . Five cymbals are suspended from the ceilling at LEAP, floating freely in the gallery space. Their sounds have been captured as part of the Microsphere 12 hour drone performance which happened at the opening night of the installation series.
Micropshere Self is a metaphysical reflection on cause and effect. The sounds derived from the cymbals are appearing all over the gallery space with no recognizable origin. No speakers are visible and the constant permutations and reconfiguration of the sonic material erases all sense of time and repetition, thus entirely focusing on the now. The sounds, whilst transformed, remain bound to their sources, the cymbals can be identified as somehow involved in the creation of the phenomenon, however the connections remain unclear. Are the cymbals making the sounds? Is the work interactive, is there any connection between the behaviour of the viewer or not?
